What does it do?
Timesheets Lite is a simple project based time tracking system. You create projects and book the time spend on each project. The program can also be used by several users assigned with usernames and passwords. By creating reports you keep track of project progress and see how much to invoice a given client.

How does it work?
After installation you have to log in to the database to start using it. Look in the readme file to find the default password! You are logged in as the Super User and can access all features of the database. The main screen provides you with a toolbar where you can access all the screens.
You can now start creating projects in the Project Maintenance screen. Simply click on the new button and fill in the project information. There is also space for financial information like estimated labour costs etc.
You can create several users in the User Maintenance screen and assign them different security levels. There are four different security levels to choose from; from normal user who can only enter timesheet data to super user who can do everything.

The Timesheets screen lets a user book time on to a project. Choose the date in a convenient calendar and select the project and write down the time spend. A live timer lets you also time your work whilst you are working!

In the Reporting screen you can choose from several types of reports. You can create an invoicing report and use this as a base for writing your invoices. You also have the possibility to mark a project as invoiced so it doesn't appear on the list of projects to invoice. A detailed activity report can be generated for you to keep track of the progress of your projects. You can also create project charts to view the information graphically. You can choose if you want your reports to appear in Excel, text or HTML format.

If you want to create more elaborate reports there is an export functions letting you export the tables in the database to Excel. Then you can use Excels reporting tools and create a multitude of reports and diagrams.

If you want to use the program with several users you have to put the database on a central computer so everyone has access to it. By default the database is located in the folder you installed the program in. Simply move it to where you want to have it and access the Options menu to set the new path for the database.

What it isn't!
The free Lites version of this program only supports three different users. If you want to use it with more users you have to purchase a registered licence.
As with all of your data, remember to backup your database regularly!

Is it easy to use?
The user interface is simple windows based and intuitive. Although some of the screens have a lot of options available, I did not have any problems navigating and using the program.
