What does it do?
|

Translation Office 3000 takes care of all your office requirements as a freelance translator. You manage your clients, keep contact information, keep track of your price information, register quotes and jobs and track progress of ongoing jobs, register expenses, write invoices and keep track of payment. And all in one program!

How does it work?
|
|
|
Due to the complexity of this program I cannot go into detail about each function of the program. I will only shortly outline the main characteristics, for an in-depth look at the program I can recommend reading the documentations available from the developer.

The program provides easy screens to view and register information about clients, jobs, invoices, payment etc.
|
|
|
A useful function automatically counts words, lines, characters, pages etc. The following formats are supported: DOC, .RTF, .XLS, .PPT, .PPS, .HTM, .CSV, .PDF, and .TXT.

|
You can easy keep track of your pricing information. You register your standard prices for all your language combinations and services in one screen. Then for each customer you can adjust the price for the given assignments. So your pricing policy is both consistent and flexible at the same time. The pricing also supports the use of Cat tools; you can register prices for 100 % matches, fuzzy matches etc.

The invoicing process is very flexible. You can invoice one or several assignments on one invoice, apply different taxes to different jobs etc. In addition you can use a vide variety of templates for your invoices. And also include your own logos and customize your invoices as you like, etc.
|
|
|
The use of a good color-coding system gives you a quick overview of the status of all your jobs. Which once are finished, which are overdue etc. The same color-coding system is consistently used throughout the program. And if you don't like the colors - you can change them yourself!
|
|
|
The program also supports the use of multiple currencies. When registering a new client you register which currency you will be working with this client in. You can also customize the exchange rate. Changing it for one job does not influence earlier stored jobs in that currency combination.
|
|
|
It helps you organize your files in an easy accessible folders structure, backup routines secure your data, and other useful functions and shortcuts makes keeping your records up to date.

What it isn't!
|
|
|
The only thing it doesn't help you with is the actual translating - everything else it does! The regular price of this program is 149 Euro; at the moment (spring 2004) you can get your hands on it for 119 Euro.
|
|
|
Is it easy to use?
|
|
|
Due to all the functions the program is relatively complex. However, it is not difficult to use. It has an easy windows based user interface and if in doubt the informative help file will guide you.
